    Power Train / Driveline / Driveshaft

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2022-2026 840i, 840i xDrive, 2021-2023 540i, 540i xDrive, M550i xDrive, and 2024-2026 750e xDrive vehicles. The connection between the driveshaft and the rear differential may become damaged, possibly resulting in a loss of power to the rear wheels or a vehicle rollaway.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    An unexpected loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash. In addition, a damaged driveshaft can result in a vehicle rollaway if the parking brake is not applied, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    Dealers will inspect the connection between the driveshaft and rear axle differential, and apply adhesive or replace the driveshaft and rear axle differential, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 2, 2026. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.     BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2024-2026 X3 sDrive30i, X3 30 xDrive, and X3 M50 xDrive vehicles. The steering spindle may have been incorrectly attached to the steering column.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    An incorrectly attached steering spindle can lead to a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    Dealers will inspect the steering connection and replace hardware or replace the spindle and column, as necessary, free of charge.     Electrical System / Ignition

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2024 S 1000 RR US, and 2020-2026 S 1000 RR motorcycles. The vibration of the motorcycle may cause an internal component of the ignition lock to fail, which can cause the instrument display, rear lighting, and other systems such as ABS to fail, or cause an engine stall while riding.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    An engine stall or failure of electrical systems such as the instrument display or ABS, increases the risk of a crash.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters were mailed September 18, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available.     Service Brakes, Hydraulic / Power Assist / Electric / Control Module

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2025 Mini Cooper S, Mini Countryman S All4, X2, 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre, 2023-2025 i7, 7 Series, X7, 2024-2025 i5, 5 Series, 2023-2024 XM, X1, 2024-2025 X6, and X5 vehicles. The integrated brake (IB) system may malfunction and result in a loss of power brake assist or cause the Antilock Brake (ABS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) systems to not function properly.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    A loss of power brake assist can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle. Additionally, malfunctioning ABS and/or DSC systems can cause a loss of vehicle control. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    The Integrated brake system will be inspected and, if necessary, replaced, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 21, 2026. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or Rolls-Royce customer service at 1-877-877-3735. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning August 21, 2026. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 24V739 or 24V104 will need to have the new remedy completed.

    Electrical System / Wiring / Connectors/Plugs/Receptacles

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2017-2018 C Evolution motorcycles. The front wheel may splash water onto the electrical plug connection of the DC/DC converter's 12V battery ground cable lug, resulting in corrosion of the electrical contacts.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    Corrosion on the electrical contacts may cause overheating, increasing the risk of a fire.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    Dealers will replace the cable section with the ground cable lug with a repair cable kit, free of charge. In addition, the 12V plug connector to the DC/DC converter will be checked; if contact corrosion is found to be present, additional sections of the wiring harness will be replaced, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 13, 2026. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning July 6, 2026.
