What to send
- For an error on a page: the address of the page, and the value in the agency record. Corrections shows what happens next.
- For the name of a person on a page: the address of the page. The desk removes the name at the next build.
- For a question about a figure: the address of the page. How the register is made explains most figures.
- For the press: the register gives no comment on a recall. A page can be quoted with a link to it.
What the desk cannot do
- It cannot look up a VIN. The NHTSA VIN lookup does that.
- It cannot take a complaint about a vehicle or a product. Each page has the links to the agency under "Official channels".
- It cannot change an agency record, and it cannot arrange a remedy. The manufacturer or the firm in the record does that.
- It cannot give advice about a recall.
