    These buses have a turn signal lever that will not operate consistently in the lane change mode if the lever is not moved to the position where resistance to movement is felt.

    Should the rear signal lamps not flash when a lane change was being made, it could result in a vehicle following the bus to collide with the bus increasing the risk of personal injury and/or property damage.

    Steering / Gear Box / Shaft Pitman

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    The saginaw gear does not relieve pressure when the wheels have been turned fully against the axle stops. The resulting continued pressure on the steering system can result in the development of cracks in the splines of the pitman shaft, which can develop into a complete fracture of the pitman shaft.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    Fracture of the pitman shaft causes complete loss ofsteering control, which could result in a vehicle accident if fracture occurswhile vehicle is in motion.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    Replace the existing pitman shaft in the steering gear assembly with a new, strengthened pitman shaft.
