    Steering / Gear Box / Shaft Sector

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    R.H. Sheppard Co., Inc. (R.H. Sheppard) is recalling certain steering gears. Please see the recall report for a complete list of all affected models and part numbers. The steering gear sector shaft may have been improperly heat-treated, which can cause the gear teeth to crack or fracture.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    A fractured steering gear shaft can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    R.H. Sheppard will work with the vehicle manufacturers to replace the steering gears, free of charge. Affected vehicle manufacturers are expected to be notified in February 2024. Owners may contact R.H. Sheppard customer service at 1-717-637-3751.

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    R.H. Sheppard Co., Inc. (R.H. Sheppard) is recalling certain steering gear assemblies, model numbers, HD94P, M100P, HD94S, M110P, M83P, MD83, SD110P, and XD120P. The steering gear assemblies may have been assembled incorrectly with fewer recirculating balls than are required, which may result in a loss of steering control.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    A loss of steering control increases the risk of a crash.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    R.H. Sheppard will work with the affected vehicle manufacturers to replace the defective gears, free of charge. Vehicle manufacturers will be notified in December 2023. Owners may contact R.H. Sheppard customer service at 1-717-637-3751.

    Nova Bus (US) Inc. (Nova) is recalling a single Sheppard model steering gear: M110P Part Number: N34355. The steering gear may have been assembled incorrectly, which can cause the gear to fracture.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    A fractured steering gear can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    Dealers will inspect the steering gear serial numbers, and replace the steering gears as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 10, 2022. Owners may contact Nova's customer service at 1-800-350-6682. Nova's number for this recall is CR5281.
