    Suspension / Front / Control Arm

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    ZF North America, Inc. (ZF) is recalling certain Lemförder track control arms with part number 38526 01, and TRW track control arms with part number JTC 1619. The bush inner sleeve may be too short, which can cause excessive compression of the track control arm and crack the subframe during installation.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    A cracked subframe may damage the front axle carrier and cause a loss of vehicle handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    ZF will work with dealers and distributors to inspect and if necessary, replace the bushing, subframe, and/or track control arm, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 7, 2025. Owners may contact ZF customer service at 1-734-416-6200.

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    ZF Group North America Operations (ZF) is recalling certain Lemförder Steering Center Rods sold as aftermarket parts for 1996-2004 BMW 5-Series (E39) vehicles. The steering center rods may have an insufficient ball pin pull force that may allow the rods to detach from the steering knuckle.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    If the steering rod detaches from the steerable wheel knuckle, it can cause sudden loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    ZF has notified the parts distributors, instructing them to inform the end customer. ZF will reimburse them for the affected parts. The recall began August 28, 2019.

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    Certain zf lemforder tie rod ball joints sold for use as original equipment for volvo xc90 passenger vehicles and sold as replacement equipment. Due to insufficient conical surface pressures, fatigue fractures in the ball joint can occur.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    If the ball joint should fracture while the vehicle is in use, a vehicle crash can occur.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    Zf lemforder will notify owners and replace the tie rod ball joint free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided the agency with a remedy schedule. Owners may contact zf lemforder at 734-416-6200.
