    Vehicle Speed Control

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
The rear engine compartment cover near the cruise control servo motor slips, causing the safety clip in the servo motor arm to bind due to insufficient clearance. If the cruise control cable binds, the engine does not return to idle when the cruise control function is disengaged, resulting in the vehicle speed not being reduced as expected.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
When the vehicle speed is not reduced when the cruisecontrol is disengaged, stopping distance increases which can result in a vehicleaccident.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record

    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
The loose mounting bolts may allow the steering rack toshift which would result in a non-centered steering wheel, less precisesteering control, and damage to the steering rack.
