Announce Recall of Butane Gas Lighters WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Rite Aid Corp., of Camp Hill, Pa., is recalling about 225,000 multi-purpose, refillable, butane gas lighters. These lighters have on/off switches that could be defective, allowing them to be ignited in the off position, and can stay lit after the ignition switch is released, possibly causing burns and unintentional fires. CPSC and Rite Aid are not aware of any injuries involving these butane lighters. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. The recalled butane lighter, item number 4731589-V111, is approximately 11 inches long, has a black plastic base with red plastic trim and a metal igniter shaft.
