November 21, 1989 Release # 90-010 James Industries, Inc. Recalls Slinky Pull Toys WASHINGTON, DC. -- In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), James Industries, Inc., Hollidaysburg, PA announced a voluntary recall of Slinky pull toys in the form of a train, worm, seal, frog, caterpillar, dalmation, and kitten. The company has determined that the red paint used on the eyes, tongue, and cheeks of the toys may contain lead in excess of 0.06 percent and are not in compliance with CPSC regulations limiting lead content in paint on children's articles.
