The tires contain a tire identification number (TIN) that is missing the 4-digit week and year code mark. As such, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 574, "Tire Identification & Recordkeeping."

The inability to determine the production date of a tire can result in prolonged usage of a tire that should be replaced, or unknowingly using a tire that has been recalled. Either of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.

Certain hercules tires of various models listed above manufactured between august 6 and august 19, 2006 (DOT serial weeks 3206 and 3306.) some of the subject tires may have been produced with non-conforming belt wire coat stock. If placed in service, the subject tires may develop a belt separation due to a reduced ability to prevent corrosion of the steel wires in an instance where moisture reaches the steel belt.
