    Steering / Linkages / Knuckle / Spindle / Arm

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    Watson & Chalin Manufacturing, Inc. (W&C) is recalling certain SL2065 steerable lift axle suspension systems with a 20,000lb capacity. The bearing journals may not be fully seated into the left and right-side steering knuckle assembly.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    A loose spindle may fracture, becoming a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    W&C will work with commercial vehicle manufacturers and vehicle owners to provide and assist with the installation of replacement axle subassemblies, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification. Owners may contact W&C customer service at 1-972-838-1266 or 1-972-547-6020. W&C's number for this recall is W&C 2024-01.

    Suspension / Multiple Axle

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling one Watson and Chalin steerable lift axle suspension system with part number SL2065.27. The lower rear pivot cap screws may not be long enough to sufficiently engage the locking feature of the corresponding nuts.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    The short screws can cause the hardware to separate from the suspension system and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    Volvo Trucks will install a replacement lower rear pivot fastener hardware kit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 30, 2021. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586.

    Watson & Chalin Manufacturing, Inc. (W & C) is recalling certain SL2065 steerable lift axle suspension systems with a 20,000lb capacity. The lower rear pivot cap screws may not be long enough to sufficiently engage the locking feature of the corresponding nuts.

    W & C will notify the affected vehicle manufacturers and the aftermarket equipment installers that purchased the suspensions.     Suspension

    Defect, in the NHTSA record
    Certain tbei ox and j-craft dump bodies equipped with watson and chalin sl-1190 and sl-0890 steerable suspensions. These dump bodies are manufactured to be integrated into the frame of various heavy duty trucks. The lower cast arms could fracture which could affect the suspension's ability to lift the axle when it's not needed.
    Consequence, in the NHTSA record
    Should the suspension's lower cast arms fail, a vehicle crash could occur.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    Tbei will notify owners and the lower aluminum trailer arm will be replaced free of charge. The recall began on december 13, 2007. Owners can contact tbei at 952-941-0752.

    Certain watson & chalin manufacturing alumilite auxiliary lift axles, models sl-1190 and sl-0890, manufactured from may 10, 2005, to january 31, 2006, sold for use as aftermarket equipment for use on certain trucks and trailers. The lower cast arms could fracture which could affect the suspensions ability to lift the axle when it's not needed.

    A vehicle crash could occur.
    Remedy, in the NHTSA record
    Watson & chalin will notify owners and provide repair kits along with repair instructions. The recall began on september 20, 2007. Owners can contact watson & chalin manufacturing at 1-800-445-0736.
